The Konde Diocese has a partnership with the Lutheran Church District Southern Tondern-Germany. These partners support the renovation of Matema Lutheran Centre.
Mrs. Gertrude von Holdt-Schermuly, the chairwoman of the sponsors committee, is doing the supervision.
The renovation was given into the hands of the German Architect Jochen Figur, who is working for all Lutheran Dioceses in the southern part of Tanzania. He has done really a very nice work.
The Main house has been renovated in 2007/08. It was built in 1911 by the Missionaries of Berlin Mission / Germany as a living house and a kitchen house for the Missionaries.
Now a Bistro has been created in the living house. There is an Administration Block, Reception and 4 Guestrooms in the former kitchen house, which has been renovated in 2006 under supervision of Reverend Bultmann from Southern Tondern Ggerman.
